About This Verification of Competence (VOC) Topic: Hazardous Manual Handling Manual handling injuries remain one of the most common causes of workplace musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) within the civil construction industry. Activities such as lifting trench plates, shovelling materials, installing pit lids, handling tools and operating vibrating plant present foreseeable risks if not properly managed.
